The Buena Vista Pathfinder Club is getting ready to start up our fourth year. Some of the highlights of our past three years include:
— Aug 2024 International Camporee in Gillette, WY, where over 55,000 Pathfinders from around the world camped out for a week to worship God, fellowship, and have fun! (International Camporee occurs every five years, so our next one will be August 2029.)
— Caving, camping, and hiking with other area Pathfinder Clubs
— Growing closer to Jesus through daily devotions (Bible readings) and prayer
—Seeing old friends and making new ones in our local club, and at larger events such as Camporees and Pathfinder Fair
—Having fun earning honor badges to wear on our sashes
—Serving our community in a variety of ways, including Christmas coats distribution
Here is some information about our Pathfinder Club.
General Information
Youth ages 10 and older (grades 5-12) may join the Pathfinder Club. Regular club meetings are held roughly every other Saturday 2:15-4:15, September through May, at the Buena Vista Seventh-day Adventist Church. The club offers a wide variety of activities including camping trips, leadership training, community service, spiritual growth, and opportunities to earn honors in the fields of recreation, vocations, art, nature, and more.
Pathfinder Applications & Club dues
Your Pathfinder Application should be submitted to the Pathfinder Director. Club dues this year are $40, and we are blessed to have the Buena Vista Seventh-day Adventist church sponsor the bulk of our club expenses. You can submit your $40 in a lump sum payment due by September 27, 2025, or you can make $5 monthly payments. You may pay by cash, check (written out to Buena Vista SDA Church), or Venmo. Please submit your payment directly to the Pathfinder Director.
Pathfinder Uniforms
Pathfinders will be provided with both Class A and Class B uniforms. For Class A uniform, you must provide solid black shoes and solid black socks (for boys). Our class B uniform is a green t-shirt, that you should wear with pants and athletic shoes. Please contact the Pathfinder Director to receive your uniform before club begins.
Pathfinder Bible Experience (PBE)
Every year across the North American Division, teams of six Pathfinders memorize scripture, alternating each year between Old and New Testaments. This year we are memorizing the first 33 chapters of Isaiah. Please note that PBE is OPTIONAL. Secondly, only Pathfinders can join the PBE team, so if you have a friend who wants to join PBE, they must first join our Pathfinder club. There are 4 levels of PBE testing, and you must score 90% or better to move to the next round of competitions.
Jan 17 - local test
Feb 14 - Potomac Conference test in Silver Spring, MD
Mar 14 - Columbia Union test, location TBD
Apr 18 - North American Division test, Greeley, CO
PBE is free to join, and should incur no additional expenses for you. If our PBE team makes it to the final round in Colorado, we will have fundraisers and/or receive sponsorships so that Pathfinders will not have to purchase airfare, etc. You can find out more about PBE here.
